Mitch Lovett

Interim Dean

Mitch Lovett serves as the interim dean of Simon Business School and the Benjamin Forman Professor of Marketing. A Simon faculty member since 2008, Lovett is leading the school into its next chapter while preserving the analytical rigor, intellectual traditions, and close-knit community that define the Simon experience.

As interim dean, Lovett has advanced initiatives that strengthen Simon’s leadership in business education, including expanding AI across the curriculum, launching new academic programs, enhancing leadership development, and broadening opportunities in entrepreneurship and innovation. Together, these efforts prepare graduates to think rigorously, adapt confidently, and create lasting impact throughout their careers.

Lovett’s research explores how consumers and firms learn, adapt, and influence one another to improve decisions and outcomes. His work spans advertising, branding, word-of-mouth, political marketing, retailing, and consumer behavior, and has appeared in leading academic journals. He has received multiple honors from the Marketing Science Institute, including Young Scholars and Scholars recognition, and his research has been featured by The New York Times, Forbes, and Ad Age. Lovett earned his PhD in Marketing from Duke University.

An award-winning teacher and dedicated PhD mentor, Lovett is known for challenging students to think critically, communicate effectively, and apply analytical frameworks to solve complex business problems.

Siddhartha Bhattacharya

Associate Vice President, Marketing
University of Rochester

Siddhartha (Sid) Bhattacharya is the inaugural associate vice president of marketing at the University of Rochester and joined the university in September 2024. As URochester continues to build out its first-ever enterprise marketing function, the primary responsibilities for the marketing team will be to both re-envision our brand into a modern and comprehensive platform and to build integrated marketing strategies and an execution function that can deliver results as it relates back to enrollment, the brand, and global reputation. The enterprise marketing team includes areas of expertise around brand, enrollment marketing, social media, creative strategy, solutions, and multimedia. 

Bhattacharya has prior extensive global marketing leadership experience in the private sector including positions at Xerox, Kodak Alaris, and Paychex. Before joining URochester, he led marketing and content strategy at Syracuse University, helping to build out both the university’s brand identity, reputation, and centralized marketing strategy team, with a strong focus on academic/research storytelling.

He has lived in Upstate NY for many years and has called both Rochester and Syracuse his home. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata, a Master of Arts in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, and an MBA, specializing in marketing, from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
 
 


 

Jaime Earl Headshot

Jaime Earl

Executive Director, Advancement

Jaime Earl is Simon’s chief development officer and executive director of advancement, leading the school’s fundraising and alumni engagement efforts.

She joined Simon from Carnegie Mellon University, where she served as director of development for the Tepper School of Business. During her tenure, she led major gift strategy and partnered with university leadership and schools across Carnegie Mellon to support the university’s $2 billion campaign. Prior to Carnegie Mellon, Earl served as director of development for the National Committee on U.S.–China Relations, where she established the organization’s major gifts program and coordinated high-level international engagements, including Head of State visits from China.

She has also led fundraising efforts in the political sector, including PAC fundraising for members of Congress and campaign financing for a congressional candidate. Earl holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University.
 
 


 

Ivone Foisy Headshot

Ivone Foisy

Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management

Ivone Foisy serves as Simon's assistant dean of enrollment management and leads strategic enrollment management initiatives for the school’s graduate business programs. In this role, she oversees admissions, recruitment, and scholarship strategy. Working collaboratively across the institution, she partners closely with colleagues in marketing, student services, and career management to align enrollment strategies with institutional priorities and deliver a seamless prospective student experience.

Before joining Simon, Foisy worked at several undergraduate offices of admission at Stonehill College and Boston College and led a graduate admissions team at Emory University. She is committed to ensuring that all students are prepared to make a transformational and meaningful impact in an ever-changing business landscape. Foisy earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Communications and Public Relations at Suffolk University, in Boston, MA.
 
 


 

Ron Goettler Headshot

Ronald Goettler

Senior Associate Dean of Education & Innovation
James N Doyle Professor of Entrepreneurship

Ronald Goettler joined Simon in 2012 and has served as senior associate dean of education and innovation since 2025. In this role, he oversees Simon’s MS and undergraduate degree programs and the school’s non-tenure-track faculty. He previously served as senior associate dean of faculty and research from 2014 to 2022.

He teaches economics, marketing, and strategy in Simon’s MBA, MS, and doctoral programs. His research spans quantitative marketing, industrial organization, and finance, with an emphasis on structural econometric methods to better understand consumer and firm behavior.

He is particularly interested in high-tech industries, focusing on the relationship between competition and innovation and the marketing of new products. Before joining the Simon faculty, Goettler was an assistant professor of marketing at the University of Chicago. From 2022 to 2024, he served as chief economist for Amazon Web Services. He earned a PhD in Economics from Yale University.
 
 


 

Melissa Holmgaard

Executive Director of Administration

As the executive director of administration, Melissa Holmgaard provides strategic leadership for Academic Operations, Staff and Faculty Affairs, Technology Services, Instructional Technology, and Space Planning & Operations.

She is passionate about creating an engaged culture, centered around professional development and high performance. She partners closely with Simon leaders, Human Resources, and University Centers of Excellence to ensure that staff and faculty have the resources and support they need to be successful and best serve the Simon community. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Finance from Siena University.

Assistant Dean of the Benet Career Management Center

LaTanya Johns is assistant dean of the Benet Career Management Center at Simon, where she leads career management, employer engagement, professional development, and student outcomes across the MBA and specialized master’s programs.

She is passionate about helping students discover meaningful career paths while building the confidence, skills, and relationships needed for long-term success. A collaborative leader, Johns partners closely with faculty, staff, employers, alumni, and students to strengthen the Simon experience and prepare graduates to lead with impact throughout their careers. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Penn State University and an Master of Science in Career and Human Resource Development from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Professor of Finance

Narayana Kocherlakota serves as senior associate dean of faculty and research. He is responsible for oversight and management of tenure-track faculty activities. He holds the Louise and Henry Epstein Professorship of Business Administration and is a professor of finance.

Before joining the Simon faculty in 2024, Kocherlakota held academic appointments at Stanford University, Northwestern University, the University of Iowa, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Rochester economics department. From 2009 to 2015, he served as president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and was a member of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), the monetary policymaking body of the Federal Reserve System. He has remained an active commentator on policy issues since coming to Rochester in 2016.

His research includes theoretical and empirical contributions across numerous fields of economics, including the economics of money and payments, business cycles, financial economics, public finance, dynamic games and contracts, and monetary policy. He earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago under the guidance of Nobel laureate Lars Peter Hansen and Rochester PhD and Lionel McKenzie student Jose Scheinkman.
 
 


 

Rebekah Lewin Headshot

Rebekah Lewin

Assistant Dean of Strategic Partnerships

Rebekah Lewin is assistant dean of strategic partnerships at Simon, where she oversees corporate engagement and strategic partnerships with companies, organizations, and academic institutions. Over her long-standing career at the university, she previously worked in leadership roles that span Admissions & Financial Aid, Student Engagement, Career Management, and Academic Operations at Simon.

She is a longtime trustee of The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, having previously served as vice chair of the board and currently serving on the Executive Committee and as chair of the Orientation Program committee. She also serves on the Forté School and Corporate Advisory Committee. Lewin holds an MBA from the University of Rochester Simon Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Roberts Wesleyan University.

Ravi Mantena has been a Simon faculty member since 2004. As associate dean of education and innovation, he provides strategic leadership for the educational programs in his portfolio and leads the design and implementation of new academic offerings. As faculty director of MBA programs, he oversees Simon’s Full-Time, Professional, and Executive MBA programs.

His scholarly expertise spans business analytics and the economics of digital and information-intensive products. His research focuses on pricing, strategy, and competition in technology-driven markets, as well as the use of data to improve decision-making and organizational performance.

Before entering academia, Mantena worked in marketing within the consumer packaged goods industry and co-founded an aquaculture business in India. He earned a PhD in Information Systems from New York University.

Dennis Proulx

Assistant Dean of Students

Dennis Proulx is the assistant dean of students and leads the team responsible for student life, experiential learning, and academic advising within the Ainslie Office of Student Engagement (OSE). His work focuses on enhancing the student experience, broadly defined by supporting students both inside and outside the classroom as they pursue academic, professional, and career goals.

Proulx is committed to fostering an engaged student community and helping students achieve personal and professional growth aligned with their individual definitions of success. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Vermont State College Castleton and a Master of Science in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Colorado State University.

Jonathan Shipley

Faculty Director, Barry Florescue Undergraduate Business Program
Clinical Associate Professor

Jon Shipley is the faculty director of the Barry Florescue Undergraduate Business Program at Simon, where he teaches business and communication courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He joined Simon in 2022 after five years of HR and leadership consulting in the Pacific Northwest and holds a PhD in Organizational Communication from Texas A&M University. In his role, Shipley helps prepare students to communicate effectively, lead with confidence, and apply business concepts in real-world settings.

In the classroom, Shipley is committed to creating transformative learning experiences that equip students with practical, career-ready skills. His teaching has earned recognition from both students and the department for excellence, reflecting his dedication to student success and experiential learning.
