I’m Karthik Muthuselvam '26S (MBA), a first-year MBA student at the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School, gearing up for a career transition into strategy roles. Before jumping into the MBA world, I spent four years in the IT industry, leading teams and working on innovative projects—skills I'm excited to bring into the world of strategy. My life’s essentials? Talking, traveling, and keeping the energy up with new experiences—whether it's diving into problem-solving sessions or exploring new cities and cultures.

Fun Fact: I share my birthday with my parents’ wedding anniversary!
(Not So!) Fun Fact: I haven't been to a music concert. . .yet.

Have you ever wondered what makes a place truly feel like home?

This year, I have the honor of being an event ambassador, proudly representing Simon. Not too long ago, I was on the other side of the table, trying to decide where to pursue my MBA, attending meet-and-greets hosted by different schools. I still vividly remember a dinner session in NYC organized by Simon—there was something special about the energy and the people. The vibe was incredibly positive, and I loved interacting with prospective students like myself, as well as first-year students (who are now my second-year peers).

Fast forward to this year, and it's a full-circle moment. At a recent event, I had a wonderful time chatting with prospective students for the Class of 2027, hearing about their unique journeys and what they hope to achieve. These folks were focused, ambitious, and their energy throughout the evening was contagious. As I answered their questions, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for choosing Simon for my own MBA journey. By the end of the event I attended, I could tell that the prospective students were feeling the same sense of connection that I once did—Simon’s welcoming spirit definitely left an impression on them. P.S. The food? Absolutely delicioso!

From that dinner in NYC until now, one thing has remained constant—and I don’t think it ever will change—how welcoming Simon people are. I’m not exaggerating; it’s just the environment and culture we embrace. I promise you, anyone who attends a Simon event or visits our campus will feel the same way!
