New York-Ontario (NYON) Operations Workshop
We are pleased to announce that the 2nd New York-Ontario (NYON) Operations Workshop will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester.
This one-day, in-person workshop will bring together distinguished faculty from leading institutions across the New York-Ontario region for a series of invited research talks in operations research and related fields. The event will also feature a keynote address delivered by Professor Serguei Netessine from the Wharton School.
In addition to faculty presentations, the workshop will include a Ph.D. student poster session and a student paper competition, providing an opportunity for emerging scholars to present their research and engage with faculty from across the region.
NYON 2026 Student Best Paper Award
We invite submissions to NYON 2026 Student Best Paper Award competition open to final-year or near-final-year Ph.D. students from NYON participating schools (see list below). Finalists will be announced before the workshop and invited to present their research during the event, with winners announced at the end of the workshop. Submission deadline is 7/10/2026 11:59PM EST. Each student is eligible to submit no more than one paper to the competition.
Using the following link, please submit:
- A cover letter including full name, affiliation and email addresses of the PhD student, the advisor and any other co-authors if applicable. The student should also indicate which year they are entering in the coming academic year.
- The full paper (including any supplemental materials). For blind review, any author(s) information should be removed.
- A letter from the student’s advisor(s) attesting to the student’s primary contribution to the work.
NYON participating schools: University of Buffalo, University of Rochester, University of Toronto, Syracuse University, Cornell University, RPI, Queen’s University, Western University, McMaster University. For any other institutions from the region that are not listed here, please contact the organizing committee to verify eligibility.
